Youth & Adult Lessons:

NJTLT offers Youth & Adult Lessons during the Spring, Summer and Fall to all levels at Cadwalader Park. This program introduces tennis to youth between the ages of 5-17 and adults of all ages free of cost. Through various drills and games players become familiar with tennis fundamentals, and develop enthusiasm for the game.

School Programs:

The NJTLT provides 18-22 weeks of PE and after-school tennis instruction in school gymnasiums and community centers using USTA’s QuickStart format (short courts and sponge balls) and the ACE Curriculum. The program runs in partnership with the Trenton Public Schools, the City of Trenton, Ewing Public Schools, Hamilton Public Schools and other after-school providers. The program concludes with the “Trenton Short Court Championships” tournament at Cadwalader Park in May. All-star teams are formed from each school, for this one-day tournament that includes both Elementary and Middle School divisions.

Summer Camp:

Established in 1975, the NJTLT’s summer program initially began at one site with 30 youngsters. It now operates at numerous sites with over 500 children. The program runs for five to six weeks (five days a week) during the months of July and August – ending with the End of the Summer Picnic extravaganza. The summer program emphasizes character development and tennis instruction. It provides USTA Quick Start tennis for younger players and intense training for beginners, intermediate to advanced levels. Many additional opportunities are offered throughout the summer – field trips, Regional Rallies, Junior Team Tennis, US Open Arthur Ashe Kids Day trip, World Team Tennis matches, etc. Many city and local organizations and camps collaborate and utilize the program to incorporate tennis instruction into their programming allowing NJTLT to reach a greater number of students.

Service Contracts:

NJTLT contracts with other agencies to provide tennis instruction within their own programs. For example, NJTLT provides tennis instruction and opportunities for Trenton Catholic Academy, YMCA, YWCA, Boys & Girls Club, Day Care Organizations, Ewing & Hamilton Township summer recreation camp and the City of Trenton recreation department.

Currently, NJTLT has partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Mercer County-Lawrence Clubhouse to provide tennis instruction for children 9-10 years old on Saturdays from 10-11am.  Register today!
