The National Junior Tennis
League of Trenton just held its second fundraiser of the year, and as
President of the Board of Directors, I would like to take this opportunity
to thank the community for its overwhelming support, not only of our events,
but of our program.
NJTLT was founded in 1975
as a chapter of the national organization founded by Arthur Ashe. Using his
mission of enriching the lives of inner-city children using tennis as a
vehicle, NJTLT has flourished. Education, nutrition, various special
activities, and technology, in addition to tennis, are important components
of our program, and we are clearly making a difference in children’s lives.
We are proud of the numbers of kids we have reached and of the progress we
continue to make through the business and tennis community’s financial
support. This year, 1,200 kids participated in our programs.
The Capital Cup was the
fundraiser just completed at the Trenton Country Club, and the main gala
will be held April 20, 2007. We raised $20,000 at the Capital Cup this year
and are hoping to raise at least $250,000 this coming spring.
As we plow forward, we
would just like to say how much we appreciate those supporters and partners
who share our dreams, and we look forward to continuing this exciting ride.
